Carter's First Easter

Carter celebrated his first Easter holiday with Grandma & Grandpa Diltz. While we figured Carter was too young for an Easter egg hunt, the Easter bunny did send the Grandparents with an Easter basket which Mom and Dad enjoyed opening on baby's behalf. (Thanks Grandma & Grandpa!)

Carter is still settling in at home and Mom and Dad are trying so hard to understand what his various cries (or, more commonly, screams) mean. Just when we think we have cracked the Carter Code, he throws us for a loop. The last couple days, however, (knock on wood!!) have been wonderful. Dad seems to have the magic touch and is able to calm baby's cries and get him to sleep in mere minutes. Unless, of course, what he wants is food, in which case Mom is the only one who can provide relief.

Here is a photo of the latest and greatest technique Ryan uses to calm Mr. Fussy Wussy. For anyone who is taking notes for use on their own baby, the side lying must be used in combination with "shushing" and vigorous rocking in the glider. It also helps to have baby's feet curled up so he is in the true fetal position. We make no guarantees that this technique will work for you and your baby but if you're looking for relief from inconsolable crying and fussing, you'll try anything and so why not this?

Carter is growing well and weighed in at 9lbs. at 3 weeks. Despite all the spitting up he seems to do, he is obviously getting plenty to eat!! Ryan calls him our little piglet - you should hear the noises he makes when he eats!!

We have our 1 month check up tomorrow if you can believe it. My, how the time flies! At this rate, Carter will be 18 and going away to college before we know it!!
