Carter's 3rd EEG

Today was Carter's EEG - his 3rd so far! The first two were taken while he was in the NICU and mom and dad were not present at the time so it was an interesting process although we (read: MOM) were especially apprehensive. Mom started the process last night with a very special spa-like treat for Carter. This was Mom's way of indulging her little man in advance since she felt so bad about the upcoming EEG. Carter got a little baby massage and then a very relaxing milk-bath with Mom including candles and soothing music. He loved it!! This morning we got up at 6:15 to have our last meal before the 10 am EEG. We played and had a great time until he got into his car seat and decided it was a perfect time to drift off to sleep. Since he had to be hungry and sleep-deprived for the test, Mom and Dad had to work VERY hard to keep him awake on the ride to the office. He, of course, cried the whole time since he just wanted to rest his baby blues so badly! I am including picures of Carter getting set-up for his EEG. It was pretty funny and he was so well behaved. He was very curious about the electrodes and things going on his head and didn't fuss one bit! He was very good and the nurses just loved him!

We will have the results of his EEG at our neurology appointment on the 12th.

Above is nurse Susie putting the 26 electrodes on Carter's head with paste. Carter was wrapped in several layers of sheets and strapped down to the table. Mom and Dad couldn't help but laugh at the site!

Carter was very curious about the process and held still for Susie while she got him ready. After the electrodes and gauze were in place Mom got to hold him and nurse him to sleep for the remainder of the test.

What a trooper you were for those test, Carter. You are such a cutie even with that unusual headress! Hugs

Carter, we are so proud of you that you did so well for the test. I bet the colorful windmill was fun to look at! You look so comfy all bundled up.
