Last week Carter and I took a trip to visit my family in Portland. We had a great time and Carter was, as usual, a great traveler!
On Saturday we took a very special trip to Sauvie Island. The island is so beautiful and filled with quaint u-pick farms that grow all kinds of berries. Since Strawberries are in season right now in Portland, we went strawberry picking. Michael, Hallie, Jonah and Mae joined us there. Carter LOVES strawberries even more than he loves his blueberries so he had a great time eating all the strawberries as fast as I could pick them! Near the end he would grab a strawberry from the little basket, take a bite, put it back and go on to the next! It was so funny. His face was covered with red strawberry juice from tip of his nose to his chin and ear to ear. We got some very amused looks from other strawberry pickers. I think I could go strawberry picking every weekend and never get tired of it!
Trying on a hat in the farm's shop prior to picking the berries (notice, no strawberry face??!)
Carter lost his balance while gorging himself on strawberries and fell on his bottom right in the middle of a row! He sat there for a while not sure how to get out (since the rows are raised and his feet were in the ditch). Finally he began rocking himself forward and back trying to get back onto his feet. Notice the red strawberry-stained face!

One day we took a trip to Bauman Farms where we went on our last trip up to Portland. Carter was able to enjoy it even more this time since he is walking now. We said hello to the baby goats and the chickens and played on the tractor and went on the swings.
