Last night Ryan surprised me with a very nice night out. He took me to Flemming's Steakhouse and we went BIG! We had a wonderful time. I'm calling it The Last Supper in the hopes that baby will be here very, very soon - before we have the opportunity to enjoy a nice meal out again. Of course, we've been dubbing our meals out The Last Supper for some time now and each time we think it is the last, baby gets the last laugh.
For the past three weeks we've prefaced every plan we've made with "if the baby doesn't come then....". And every time we go somewhere we think, "this is probably our last nice meal out before the baby comes." Or, "this is probably our last chance to catch a movie in the theatre together before the baby arrives." You get the idea. Personally, I've taken it a bit farther. Everytime I get into the shower I tell myself "this could be my last chance to shower before I go into labor!" or "this could be my last chance to shave my legs before we go into labor!" I've been saying that to myself for nearly 3 weeks now and, for the record, I've gotten plenty of showers and leg shavings in during that time.
The good news is that we are making progress. Baby is definitely riding lower and is in the right position. On Wednesday we also learned that we are already 3cm dilated. As the doctor said, "all we need now are those contractions!!" We have another appointment scheduled for Tuesday and at that time they want to discuss inducing if the baby hasn't arrived. Hopefully we will miss that appointment!
Here's hoping that this is The Last Blog before Baby Clift arrives. With any luck, the next one will be a posting with pictures of our little guy (and I don't mean ultrasounds!). We'll be sure to keep you posted.
Lots of love,
Deanna & Ryan

Carter is just beautiful! Congrats on your arrival and very glad to hear he is now breathing better and off the tubes and IVs. How frightning that must have been for all of you. Warmest wishes to your wonderful "new" family. Looking forward to seeing pictures when you are all happily HOME.
Sincerely,
Cyd Estabrook
